Time is Tissue

Tonight I saw Snakes on a Plane with a bunch of people from work, along with my sister and her boyfriend, who are in town from Canada for a couple weeks. The movie doesn't technically open until tomorrow (or rather today, I guess, now that I look at the clock), but somehow the movie theatre was able to do a showing at 10:00 tonight.

Let me say this: The premise was sketchy, the story was nearly non-existent, the dialogue was horrible (except for a select few great lines), and the acting was mediocre (except for Samuel Jackson, but you knew he was going to be brilliant). And it was AWESOME!!!

It was such a fun movie to go to. We had a great crowd and the movie was hilarious. No one expected this to be be a good movie, and that's what made it fun. It was excetly what everyone expected.

Ironic Advertising

Anyone seen the commercial where the guy is carrying a bottle of Sierra Mist through airport security? The lady guard uses the metal-detector wand over him and voices "waa waa" noises when she passes over the bottle, ultimately confiscating it ("It's that refreshing" is the tagline). Kind of ironic, eh?

Update:
I found a copy of it on Google Video.

Annual

It was one year ago today I started this blog. Yay blog! I don't know that it has quite taken the direction I originally intended, but then I'm not too sure of what direction I originally intend. I think I was going for it to be more a repository of my random thoughts (and rants, hence the name) than as a record of my everyday life, which I sometime feel it has regressed into. Recording the events of one's life is important too, though.

It is kind of fun to look back at some of the posts I've writting over the past year. Some of them I remember, but there are some I completely forgot about. I think I'm going to scan through the archives some more on this anniversary. And lets hope I can do I better job of keeping up with it in the coming year.

The Return of Paul Reubens

In case you missed it, Cartoon Network Adult Swim, the late-night programming on Cartoon Network, has started showing reruns of the old Pee-Wee's Playhouse show. Now, I don't know if you remember this show, but it was my favorite show as a kid and watched it religiously every Saturday morning. I even had my own foil ball (and later wanted to make a rubberband ball, but it never quite worked out), not as big as Pee-Wee's, of course, but I had my ambitions.

And now it's back! Oh, the golden memories. And it is just as good as it was back then. If only the kids of today could experience the joy of this show, and get away from the absolute shit they have for kids today.Paul Reubens is a genius.

Spectacular!
